Hi! My name is May Chook (they/she). I am an event planner and music facilitator based in Toronto. Born in Malaysia, I graduated with a BFA in music from York University, and recently completed my Event and Meeting Management Certificate at George Brown College. I have spent around 8 years teaching music and planning grassroots events with underserved communities.
I produce events and projects that strengthen the community, take care of people, and make the world a better place. I would love to collaborate with community artists, creative organizations, social enterprises, non-profits, and community-focused businesses.
My skills and experience in event and project management involve strategic planning, financial management, outreach, grant writing, risk management, and front of house management. While I work hard to make sure projects happen on time and within budget, I also value the process of collaboration and co-creating solutions with the community.
As an event professional, I work as the Project Manager at Ordna Event Agency. I am also a proud member of ILEA Toronto Chapter (International Live Events Association).
As a music facilitator, I am on the arts educator roster of VIBE Arts leading music programs for systemically-marginalized communities.
